Excellent park, particularly for campers, with a very good museum for everyone! While it seems to focus on Samuel de Champlain, it truly covers regional history, including Native Americans and the fur trade. Well worth a visit. Stop in. Learn. Or simply rediscover.

The staff at the park are great and had great kids activities. The museum was also well done. The sites are not groomed but nice. Many sites have good privacy while others do not. The beach is very small and crowded but it is good for kids. The day use beach is the best. The water had a slight brown colour to it. The bathrooms are new with great laundry facilities but are off to one side of the park and not centrally located. Had a good experience but would say the park is average compared to other provincial parks.

Our stay was pretty good, but it started out rocky. We were originally booked in for 1 week in too sure 118 in the East Campground, we booked with a small tent trailer and extra tent for 6 people (4 adults, 2 little kids). Upon arrival at the site, there was not enough room for a trailer let alone an additional tent, the trailer would have sunk as the entire site was mud. When we went back to the office to discuss options, the attendant told us she was surprised that site was open, apparently it had be closed all summer, but she didn't say anything even when she saw our equipment and knew the site was bad. Thankfully, the campground was not full and we were able to get an alternative site that met our needs. Avoid this park during high water years and/or during times of lots of rainfall.
